Friend

I'm sure everyone has a childhood friend. I found Dabby when I was eight years old. I grew up in a small village about one hour away from the nearest town. My parents and grandparents were simple farmers. We have a little hill at the back of our house that is filled with clove trees. I was born with down syndrome, that is why I don't have any friends and people make fun of me at school, they said I "look funny" but I don't get it, I have the same features as them, 2 eyes, a nose and a mouth. I am usually alone when I am home but I don't mind that, I love being alone. That was the only time I can let my imaginations run wild.   One of my favorite games was running around with a stick shape like a gun, wearing a bucket on my head as a helmet and pretending that I was infiltrating enemy camp through the hill. Run

This was an incident that happened around 16 years ago. I was a student back then. I lived with my grandma in Balik Pulau. It's a village located at the back side of the hills in Penang Island. Back then there was no cell phones, I mean they just started introducing cell phones there and not much people have it. It was a small peaceful village, they don't have fancy place like KFC and McDonald's. Yes, they're consider fancy place to the villagers. There is only a handfuls of cars, most people is on their motorcycle or bicycle. Grandma had those old bicycle with dynamo lights on it and a metal bell. Actually, back then most of the villagers had the same bicycle. Now my grandma's house is located deep in woods. You have to pass some Banana trees, sugarcane trees and also Durian trees, lots and lots of durian trees. Yes, you guessed it, Balik Pulau is famous for its Durian. It’s a kind of fruit that you either liked it or hate it because of its smell. Google it.
